August Integrative Therapy works with children, adolescents and adults who are coping with:

  • Feelings of depression or anxiety
  • A death of someone close to them
  • Loss of a pregnancy
  • Infertility
  • Sexual Assault
  • Childhood sexual, physical or emotional abuse
  • Violence (within a relationship or community violence)
  • Body image or eating struggles
  • Feeling unfulfilled in your relationships, career or life
  • Chronic pain or fatigue

In the first meetings together, you and the therapist will concentrate on gaining clarity and understanding of the difficulties that you are struggling with. We will then set goals or create a shared vision of what you hope to gain from our time together.

People typically come in for one to two sessions a week. You can choose 30 minutes, 45 minute or 60 minute sessions, depending on your needs and schedule.

We am currently accepting new adolescent and adult clients for counseling or therapy services. If you would like to arrange an initial, free consultation to see whether I am the right therapist for you, please contact Jamie at sanders.jamie2@gmail.com or Erica at ericathibodeaux@gmail.com.

We do not currently have any openings for children under 10. If you are interested in connecting with me to help support your child, please email or call me and we can discuss the approximate wait time. We can also suggest other area therapists if your child needs to be seen immediately.

Begin by Finding Your Calm

We will help you learn ways to calm your body, thoughts and emotions and we will practice using those calming tools together. Within the first three sessions, you will find that our connection, along with your new-found clarity and new calming tools will offer you some relief from the intense emotions that are troubling you.

These calming tools may include:

  • guided imagery and mandala use
  • breathing exercises and gentle yoga
  • expressive arts such as music, art and writing
  • mindfulness and meditation
  • talking together and self-talk
  • laughter and compassion
  • exploring the pain with curiosity
  • affirmations and mantras

My clients find this time of exploring new ways to relax not only calming, but also enjoyable and fun.

Sessions Tailored to You

During each therapy session, we will continue to bring you into that calm center where you can be curious, compassionate and comfortable. Though sessions will start by practicing calming techniques, our work together will go down different paths depending on your needs and goals.

If you are grieving, I will be alongside you to help you understand your grief process and find ways to honor your loved one using my skills, training and the theories I have learned. Together we will explore how you will go on through this life without them, navigate relationships now that things are drastically different and cope with new roles, responsibilities, longings and emotions.

If you are recovering from a trauma, such as sexual abuse, assault or a scary car accident, I will be alongside you. Using all my skills and training, I will help you find ways of managing your feelings so that you don’t have to shut down or “check out,” feel panicky, or suffer from nightmares or flashbacks. Then, we can work towards healing from that abuse or event.

There may be other work you would like to do with me. For example, when you are experiencing feelings of intense anxiety or depression, we may explore the parts of you that are hurting and how to resolve the hurt. We may focus on managing intense emotions as well as look at patterns or beliefs learned in childhood that are no longer helpful. Or you may wish to work on changing a behavior, such as binge eating or yelling at those you love. Whatever topic you want to focus on, therapy is personalized for you and your needs, and we will be continually talking about how make this the best healing process for you.
